Conversely, I spend my money...

I may be developing a potentially bad new habit.

Kaitlyn and I finally decided to stop by the outlet stores in North Charleston near the base. To my surprise they had a Converse outlet store there.

In the last two days I've purchased two new pairs of shoes.

Yes, Converse are normally purchased for a pretty penny, but before you judge, check this: A pair of the Foxing Grunge sold 55.00 retail; sold in the outlet store for 20 bucks. BUT! they also offer a military discount. I paid 18 bucks for a new pair of Converse. So, I went back today and paid 27 for a nice pair of the All Star Bodega's, also MSRP 55.00 (I've seen them for MORE). I think the most expensive pair of Converse in the whole store was 39.99. Not bad at all!

They even sold baby sizes, down to almost newborn-size Converse. Adorable! Throw all this together with other Converse 'accessories' for sale, and this outlet rocks. I may own quite a few pairs of new shoes before the month is out. I never thought I'd own more than, oh, three pairs of shoes at one time since I am partial to the nice expensive shoes. I now own four: Under Armour running shoes, two pairs of Converse and one pair of Converse combat boots (they are so comfortable!). How many pairs will I own by May? Stay tuned...

Accelerate Your Kill Power

Does wealth bring happiness, or does happiness bring wealth? Or is it just one big crapshoot?

On another note, if you're thinking of joining the Army, don't. As a friend, I'll respect your decision to join the Air Force, Navy, or Marines. But not the Army. Trust me, just don't do it. Forget Army Strong. Join the Naval Airine Corps and 'Accelerate Your Kill Power!'

Today's Fortune

"You have an ability to sense and know higher truth."

Damn Chinese take-out. This revelation does me no good!

Not that I don't appreciate the sentiment, Ha Ha Fortune Cookie Company of Brooklyn. I was just looking for something more along the lines of "You'll be together soon"or "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" but I guess 'Ha Ha' has had the last laugh.

I think I'll go for Italian next week.

Using Adobe Contribute

I just got Adobe Contribute, and I'm just testing it out on this blog post. So far, so fun!

Here's your thought for the day: When I asked my best man to be my best man and told him the date of the wedding, he said, "Are you kidding me? You got engaged at the World Trade Center and now you're getting married on September 11th and you want me to take f#*king PLANE out there?! ;-) Where is this gonna be?"

Never thought about it that way before.

Afterthought: Just to clarify for those of you who may be confused... I proposed at the top of the World Trade Center in Baltimore. New York's WTC obviously isn't there anymore.

Daylight Savings?!

It should be called Daylight Losings. If I lose in hour of sleep, I am definitely not saving anything.

I've been busy. I graduate from the Defense Information School on the 25th, I've been setting up a family blog for my family (who knew?), and setting up yet another blog for myself and my fiancée... yep, I'm getting married! You can check out all the details about how we met, what's going on with the wedding, etc. over at http://danielandkaitlyn.wordpress.com . We are very excited!

I'm heading down to Charleston AFB, SC on the 26th. I can't wait to get there, I'm done with Fort Meade. I've enjoyed my time here, but it's time to move on.

Check out this blog. So nasty.

In Review: The Last Few Months

The last few months of my life have been life-altering for me. Things always change with time, but time has recently been a little more anxious to change my circumstances than it was previously. So much is different in my life, and nearly all of it good.

And in the next few weeks... things are about to change drastically again. And I can't wait.

That's all I will say.

Inauguration Day Should Be a National Holiday

Shortly after noon today, I began to feel a little lighthearted. My mood was better, my work was made easier, and everything just felt better. I could feel hope and a strange sense of pride rising inside me... Haven't been able to figure it out, since I haven't had any Toblerone today.

On a completely unrelated note, I am so proud to have Barack Obama as my new President and Commander in Chief. I don't think it's ever been so quiet in the chow hall as it was while Obama was sworn in and then gave his speech. I feel some good times coming to the United States of America.

It also doesn't hurt that now I can say what I want about the former President, George W. Bush. Hehehe.

More Radio Spots

Creating these radio spots is just so fun, and I just had to share these gems. The first one I wrote and produced. It's a PSA from the Justice League about mission-readiness.

These next three were created by fellow classmates who asked for my help to do the voices in the spots. I think they are freakin' hilarious.

Education Spot
Predator Personal Hygiene
Charlie the Unicorn Education Spot

I may share more with you in the future. Maybe. Possibly. If you're good.

A Taste of DINFOS

Writing and producing radio spots. Its's a whole lot of fun, even in the military. Here's a taste of what I've been doing at DINFOS this week:

THIS SPOT about a new post movie theatre, and
THIS SPOT about the post animal shelter.

These are two of my favourites that I've done. Enjoy?

BMT: Basic Military Toblerone

When I was in Basic Training, by the end of the third Week of Training we were allowed base liberty on the weekend. For four hours, we were allowed to go to the library, use the internet, buy junk food, all sorts of privileges that were normally denied to us. Naturally, I went straight to the Base Exchange and located the Toblerone... mmmmm. Mission accomplished.

Moral of this story is: Toblerone cannot deny me, not even at Basic Military Training.
